Craps Dealer Secrets - Dice Master Interview with David of CEG Dealer School. This is part 2 of a Craps Dealer Interview where I learn about craps strategies. Most people enjoy playing craps because it’s simple. I know it doesn’t look simple if you’ve never played, but once you understand exactly how it works, craps is an extremely simple game.

These first two secrets, covered in this section and the next section, are shorter than the secrets in the last three sections of this article. The reason why these two sections are a little shorter is because the concepts are simple to grasp.
You only need to know how to make two wagers when you play real money craps. I know there are plenty of betting options available, but none of them offer a return as high as the two I cover in this section and the next section.
When a point is set at the craps table, you have the opportunity to place a bet called the “odds.” The reason why the odds wager is special is because it doesn’t have an edge for the casino. But you aren’t allowed to place this special bet until after you place a bet on a come-out roll.
So, every time you place a come-out roll bet and the point is set, go ahead and place an odds bet. Ask the dealer how to place the odds if you’ve never played before.2 – Don’t Pass Bets
The other craps bets you’re going to make is on the come-out roll. Come-out rolls have two main wager options—the pass and don’t pass lines.
Both of these options are decent in comparison to many other bets in the casino, and they’re better than all of the other craps wager options except the odds.
But one of these options is a little bit better than the other. Don’t pass is .05% better in the long run than the pass line option. This isn’t much of a difference, but it will add up over time.

When you get a bonus for craps play, you get extra money up front to build your bankroll. This isn’t exactly like real cash because you have to meet the requirements of the bonus, but it plays just like real cash.
The only time that a bonus isn’t just like cash is when you withdraw money from the casino. This is why it’s important to read the terms of every bonus. Some bonuses can be cashed out when you clear them, and some are deducted from your balance once you’re done playing.
It’s not common, but a few online and mobile casinos allow you to use a bonus and earn comps at the same time. When you find this set up, you’re playing crapps with the best of both worlds.4 –Mobile or Online Craps Is the Best Choice
All craps games offer the same bets and the same odds of winning. The only difference is the amount of money you’re allowed to risk on the odds wager option. This is true whether you play craps in a mobile casino, in an online casino, or if you play craps live in a land-based casino.
I still recommend playing craps in an online or mobile casino for most gamblers. The only exception is if you try to use setting and throwing control. You’re going to learn more about this in the next section.
The reasons why I suggest playing craps online and on your mobile device is because you can make smaller bets online, and you have more control over how fast the craps game plays.
In addition, you can often double your bankroll when you play mobile and online craps just by using a bonus. When was the last time you walked into a casino in person and they offered to match 100% of your first “deposit?”Consider the Size of Your Bets When You Play Craps
In a live craps environment, the smallest bet you can make is usually at least $10 or $20. While this isn’t bad compared to other games in the casino, it still forces you to risk quite a bit of money over a session of craps play.
When you play craps at an online or mobile casino, you can usually play for $1. This alone reduces how much you lose by 10 to 20 times, and it also lets you play 10 to 20 times longer on the same bankroll.
You can also control how many rolls of the dice are put in play over time when you play craps online. This can work against you if you try to play craps too fast, but you can play slower to reduce the number of rolls over time as well.5 – Setting and Throwing
This final craps secret is controversial. In fact, most craps players that know about this secret don’t even think that it’s real. But this secret is so powerful that if it has any chance of being real, you have to consider it.
A small group of craps players believe that you can control the dice when you throw them. The general idea is you place the dice, or set them, a particular way when you throw them. This means that you put the numbers on the dice facing the same way every time, then pick them up using the exact same grip every time.
Then, you practice throwing dice thousands of times to train your arm to make the same throwing motion the exact same way every single time you throw. This might be similar to how a Major League Baseball pitcher trains to throw the same pitch the same way every time.
The theory is that if you can do this, you can have some control over the results of your dice throws. And if you can control that, then you can turn the odds in your favor.
Whether or not you can get an edge if you can learn how to use this technique isn’t up for argument. The mathematical fact is that you can get an edge if you can control the dice. And you don’t have to be perfect at this to get an edge. You only need to alter the results of the dice roll a small percentage of the time to get an edge.
This is why I recommend investigating dice control. I can’t make it work, but if you can, then you can certainly win more often. My guess is that if it does work at all, then it requires as much practice as the best MLB pitchers have had. And when you realize that these pitchers have been practicing their entire life, you’ll quickly realize how hard this is going to be.
And if dice control doesn’t work, you’re not any worse off than the craps players that aren’t trying to control the dice.Conclusion
When you make the best two wagers when you play craps, the only games that offer a higher rate of return in the casinos are blackjack, video poker, and baccarat. And you have to play each of those three games using perfect strategy just to get a high rate of return.
It’s simple to use the best possible strategy when you play craps. It’s all about the odds and don’t pass bets. And when you play craps at mobile and online casinos, it’s even better.

Four Craps Secrets
Secret # 1 - You can stop play - If you have a good reason!
First, let’s take a look at how the craps game is managed by the casino.At the tables, there is only one man (or woman) who is seated.He (or she) is called the boxman, and takes care of things, for both the table and the players.He keeps an eye on the payoffs, the bets, and more importantly, the average bets of all the players who want to be rated.He also has little slips of paper, which contain your name and comp card number.On these he enters your buy-in, your
first bet and your average bet.
Personally, I’ve found that if you tip the dealers (more on tipping later) the boxman takes it upon himself to bump up your average bet a little. It always pays to tip the dealers.
The boxman also handles player disputes, and is charge of the casino’s bank of chips, which is in front of him, in the middle of the table. The boxman is usually the most experienced casino employee at that particular table. Occasionally an inexperienced dealer might make an unpopular
decision, and the boxman can overrule it. The man with the stick is called the stickman. He technically is one of the three standing dealers, and they all rotate shifts around the table, so each dealer takes turns with the stick. The stickman retrieves the dice and pushes them to the shooter, taking care not to display the dreadful seven, which of course, is the ultimate in bad dice etiquette.The stickman also takes care of the proposition bets, and helps the other two dealers, who are on the other side of the table (on each side of the boxman) handling all of the players’ bets.
Behind the craps tables is an area called the ’pit’. Players are not allowed walk through this area. In the pit are floor persons, who are one step above the boxmen.Their primary concern is to watch out for cheaters, and keep track of rated players.When you first check in and ask for casino credit, or when you leave and ask for a comp, or if you switch tables, this all will be handled by a floor person.
Supervising all of this is the pit boss. He is in charge of all of the casino personnel at all of the tables. You will rarely see this person - usually when you have a dispute regarding ratings or table play you will be speaking with a floor person, not the pit boss.
So - let’s say something strange happens during your play and the dealer closest to you disagrees with what you want.For example you have $10 hard eight and the shooter throws wildly and the dice bounce around all over the table and somehow end up sitting on top of each other. If they were separated on the table it would show your hard eight, but the dealer calls out ’no roll!’Your first appeal would be to the boxman, who could overrule the dealer. If he doesn’t, you can yell ’Stop Play, I want to talk to the pit boss!’ and a floor person will come over and see if he can resolve the situation by talking to the boxman.If he can’t he’ll call over a pit boss.
Usually, it won’t get that far. The boxman knows that it is more important to keep the players at his table in his casino, than it is to pay off a few hundred disputed dollars. Casinos are very competitive these days and they will do a lot to keep you as a regular patron. Remember, you
have a lot of power when you play - don’t let the dealers push you around!
Secret # 2 - Your best friend is NOT at the craps table!
The person who is charge of keeping you as a regular patron is not in the pit area, but in his or her own office. This would be your casino host. He really has the final say on your comps and is in charge of keeping you happy and satisfied - but he supervises comps only and has nothing to
do with table play. You should talk to him about your rating, and make sure you get everything that’s due you. If you don’t already have a host, just pick up a house phone and ask for one. It’s their job to help you, so be sure to take advantage of their services!
Secret #3 - Proposition bet limits are NOT posted!
Now that we know the casino personnel, let’s take a quick look at the craps table itself, and learn some things that are often overlooked. There are signs on both sides of the craps table announcing what the minimum and maximum bets are. For example, one sign might say ’$10 to $1,000, 2X odds’. This means that the minimum flat bet is $10, the maximum flat bet is $1,000 and the casino offers two times odds. There are usually several tables in the pit area, with different stated limits. It is not uncommon to see four tables, each with different minimums - $2, $5, $10 and $25. Usually on weekdays the minimums are lower, and on weekend evenings, the minimums are as high as the traffic will allow. In the evenings, when all the tables are in use, the house will usually raise all of the minimum bets, no matter what they are. The minimum and maximum bets apply to flat bets only, not proposition bets. If you want to bet higher than usual on the 2, 3, 11 or 12 you should ask the dealer what the upper limits are as they are never posted. I’ve seen people bet progressively on the ’Yo’ only to have the dealer call ’No Bet’ when a low limit (sometimes $25) is reached. Be careful, and ask the dealer. Make sure of the prop bet limits before you bet!
Secret # 4 - Use chips to track the table.
On the table, there are grooved chip holders in the sides to hold your chips. You can also use one of these racks to track the table. Just use a red chip for pass-line winners and a white one for don’t pass winners. This way you can see which way the table is going. Instead of tracking the pass/don’t pass, you can also track sevens, or inside numbers. Use a red chip to count the sevens and a white chip to track the 5, 6, 8 and 9 rolls. If there were more than six sevens during the last 36 rolls, it’s time to increase your place bets. If there were less than 18 rolls of the 5, 6, 8 and 9
(again in 36 rolls), it’s time to bet more inside and less outside.
When you do make your bets it is not really necessary to know all of the various odds combinations, as the dealers will readily give you that information if they know it. But a little extra knowledge never hurts. Blackjack Secrets Wong

do with table play. You should talk to him about your rating, and make sure you get everything that’s due you. If you don’t already have a host, just pick up a house phone and ask for one. It’s their job to help you, so be sure to take advantage of their services!
Secret #3 - Proposition bet limits are NOT posted!
Now that we know the casino personnel, let’s take a quick look at the craps table itself, and learn some things that are often overlooked. There are signs on both sides of the craps table announcing what the minimum and maximum bets are. For example, one sign might say ’$10 to $1,000, 2X odds’. This means that the minimum flat bet is $10, the maximum flat bet is $1,000 and the casino offers two times odds. There are usually several tables in the pit area, with different stated limits. It is not uncommon to see four tables, each with different minimums - $2, $5, $10 and $25. Usually on weekdays the minimums are lower, and on weekend evenings, the minimums are as high as the traffic will allow. In the evenings, when all the tables are in use, the house will usually raise all of the minimum bets, no matter what they are. The minimum and maximum bets apply to flat bets only, not proposition bets. If you want to bet higher than usual on the 2, 3, 11 or 12 you should ask the dealer what the upper limits are as they are never posted. I’ve seen people bet progressively on the ’Yo’ only to have the dealer call ’No Bet’ when a low limit (sometimes $25) is reached. Be careful, and ask the dealer. Make sure of the prop bet limits before you bet!
Secret # 4 - Use chips to track the table.
On the table, there are grooved chip holders in the sides to hold your chips. You can also use one of these racks to track the table. Just use a red chip for pass-line winners and a white one for don’t pass winners. This way you can see which way the table is going. Instead of tracking the pass/don’t pass, you can also track sevens, or inside numbers. Use a red chip to count the sevens and a white chip to track the 5, 6, 8 and 9 rolls. If there were more than six sevens during the last 36 rolls, it’s time to increase your place bets. If there were less than 18 rolls of the 5, 6, 8 and 9
(again in 36 rolls), it’s time to bet more inside and less outside.
When you do make your bets it is not really necessary to know all of the various odds combinations, as the dealers will readily give you that information if they know it. But a little extra knowledge never hurts. Blackjack Secrets Wong
